I like to paint things that are meaningful and usable. I welcome custom commissions
that incorporate a subject important to you or someone you love and to work in a
color scheme that fits your taste and needs. Contact me.
Pricing:
Pillows $25 (4” x 4” sachet size) to
$175 (12” x 24” or 18” x 18”)
Paintings Depends on subject and size. $50 to $2000+
(ex. Popular fish paintings 15” x 30” = $450 to $650)
Some recent examples of commissions to ponder:
Brook Trout Pillow: A symbol of fertility in China, this fish was given as a wedding
gift to a couple who celebrate their multi cultural ties to Japan, China, Korea and the
USA. Made especially as a nuptial gift their names and wedding date were
incorporated into the design on the painted canvas.
Beauregard: Beau is well-loved Labrador Retriever. He is also the namesake of
Beauregard’s Grille and Tavern located in Wellington, Colorado. This 3 by 4 foot
portrait of Beau is the first thing you see when you walk through the door. When
one of the diners asked if he could pet the painting, the owner called me up and asked
if it was okay. Thrilled, I said, “Definitely!” I also said if Beau’s image is ever worn
away from too much petting I will gladly retouch lost fur. I can think of no better
compliment for a dog or an artist.
Mountain Portal: Originally the front door of an old Victorian home in Rochester,
New York, the glass was removed, and the door was sanded and painted. Gold and
silver leaf was applied to the molding. There are two panels. The upper panel depicts
the Colorado Rockies as sun bursts over the snow covered peeks. The lower panel
shows a row of evergreens in silhouette against a glowing sunset. The number and
size of trees corresponds to the patron’s family.
